CASTS OF CAPTIVITY

 

Like the hunters who place the severed heads of wildlife on the wall, modern zoos will hold charismatic megafauna in captivity - their more elegant trophies.

While working at two U.S. zoos, animals that perished were available after necropsy for face, hand and foot casting. These casts were bronzed and chained together.
